By optimizing UX/UI, simplifying complexity, and refining data visualization through research, we boosted investor retention and premium conversions, making it a market-leading tool.

Description

We transformed TipRanks’ Stock Screener into a powerful, investor-focused tool by introducing chart and heatmap views, improved navigation, full-screen mode, and better filter management. The redesigned experience enhances usability, increases engagement, and drives higher retention and conversions, making it an essential tool for stock investors. 🚀

The Challenge

  • Complexity Overload: The extensive functionality made the tool overwhelming, especially for new investors.
  • Navigation and Screen Utilization: Users needed more flexibility to interact with data, including better viewing options and customizable layouts.
  • Retention & Conversion: The tool was powerful but needed to better guide users through the investment funnel, keeping them engaged and converting them into premium subscribers.
  • Investor-Centric UX/UI: The existing design lacked a true investor-first approach, making interactions less intuitive.
  • Data Visualization & Table Optimization: Presenting complex stock data in a clear, structured, and digestible format was a major challenge.

A research study

To refine the experience, we conducted:

  • User Feedback Analysis – Gathered insights from active users to identify pain points and areas for improvement.
  • Competitive Benchmarking – Analyzed stock screeners from top financial platforms to understand industry best practices.
  • Usability Testing – Conducted sessions with both beginner and advanced investors to optimize usability.
  • Table & Data Presentation Research – Explored how top-tier financial tools structure tables, experimented with various layouts, and identified the best ways to present unique datasets in a structured, investor-friendly manner.

The Results

  • Chart & Heatmap Views – Investors can now visualize stock data in multiple formats for deeper insights.
  • Improved Navigation – A more intuitive UI makes filtering, sorting, and finding key data effortless.
  • Full-Screen Mode – Users can now analyze stocks in a distraction-free environment with expanded screen space.
  • Hide Filters for More Screen Space – Investors can collapse filters to maximize table visibility and focus on stock data.
  • Optimized Data Table Structure – We redesigned the table layout, ensuring the most important stock data is always visible and easily digestible.
  • Unique Data Sets & Customization – We introduced the ability to customize table columns and highlight special TipRanks-exclusive datasets, making the screener more valuable for investors.
  • Investor-Centric UI/UX – Every aspect of the design was optimized for investors’ needs, ensuring a seamless experience.

Enhancing TipRanks Mobile & iPad Experience

We redesigned the TipRanks mobile and iPad apps to improve user retention, engagement, and revenue. By optimizing the UI for investors on the go and enhancing the iPad experience, we created a seamless, intuitive, and platform-specific design that boosted overall performance.As soon as I joined TipRanks’ application squad, I noticed major inconsistencies in the app’s design. There was no design system, and both iOS and Android shared the same UI, creating a confusing experience. Additionally, while many iPad users installed the app, actual usage was low. This presented a unique opportunity: by improving both the mobile and iPad experiences, we could increase retention, engagement, and conversions.
